Europa League; Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United learn Round of 16 opponents

After navigating their way through their respective groups with minimal fuss, both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have also successfully come through the first knockout stage of the competition, albeit in very different circumstances.

Spurs defeated Austrian minnows Wolfsberger AC 8-1 on aggregate over the course of the two legs, featuring a 4-0 win in the second-leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday evening, whilst Arsenal produced an heroic comeback against Portuguese giants Benfica in Greece last night, winning 3-2.

Arsenal were set to be dumped out of the competition on away goals until Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang connected with Bukayo Saka’s cross to snatch an 87th minute winner on the night and a 4-3 win on aggregate, ensuring they kept their hopes of winning a trophy this season alive.

The north London duo will be joined in the hat this lunchtime by Premier League rivals Manchester United, as well as Scottish outfit Rangers, who knocked out Royal Antwerp 9-5 on aggregate.

The dates for the last-16

The Round of 16 first leg ties will take place on March 11 while second leg fixtures will be played on March 18.

Games will be split between 5.55pm and 8pm, both UK time.

Like in the Round of 16, it is quite possible that several matches will be played at neutral venues.
