Primary schools in Kisoro District and Kisoro Municipality whose 2025 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results were withheld are set to appear before the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Security Committee on the 11th and 12th of this month.
The affected schools will meet the committee to verify information and present complaints regarding the withheld results. Education authorities say the results were suspended following allegations of external assistance during the 2025 PLE examinations.
UNEB withheld results of several candidates after uncovering widespread examination malpractice, with Kisoro, Kampala and Mukono emerging as the most affected districts.
According to UNEB executive director Dan Odongo, examination malpractice has taken a more organised and brazen form, with candidates being assisted directly during examinations.
“Examination malpractice has now taken a brazen form where scouts and invigilators are bribed or threatened with physical harm by the school directors and headteachers to allow teachers to assist candidates directly in the examination rooms,” Mr Odongo said.
Affected Schools Kisoro District:
- Kabindi Primary School – None of the pupils received results.
- Kabuhungiro Primary School – Only three pupils received results.
- Kirundo Primary School – No candidate received results.
- Gasovu Primary School – Thirteen pupils received results.
- Ivana Preparatory Primary School – Operated from Kabindi.
- Global Focus Primary School – Operated from Gasovu Primary School.
Kisoro Municipality:
- Read Primary School – None of the 49 candidates received results.
- Real Quality Primary School – None of the 121 candidates received results.
- St. Allen’s Primary School – Only four out of 103 candidates received results.
According to the Kisoro District and Municipal Education Departments, the withheld results stem from alleged examination malpractice involving external assistance.
Those expected to appear before the UNEB Security Committee include affected pupils, UNEB scouts, district and municipal education officials, inspectors of schools, the District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), and the Municipal Town Clerk.
Both the municipal and district education authorities confirmed the development yesterday while speaking to our reporter.
