A select committee has been formed to coordinate the fundraising activities meant for land to construct modern staff housing for Zindiro HC III in Zindiro village, Kamonyi Ward, Northern Division, Kisoro Municipality.
The committee that comprises of the following includes; Kisoro Mayor Richard Ndyana (chairperson), Ramadhan Ndikuyeze (Vice chairperson), In-charge Zindiro HC III Evarist Mbonye (Secretary) Northern Division LCIII Chairperson Michael Bazamaza (Assistant Secretary) and Headmistress Seseme Girls Secondary School Peace Ruzaza (Treasurer).
The development comes following information that the Ministry of Finance is set to release funds to the Kisoro Municipal council in the month of February, 2022.
The Municipality has a daunting task of mobilizing the communities to contribute towards buying land where the Zindiro HC III staff quarters will be built before the end of the financial year in June, 2022.
Zindiro HC III, which was recently upgraded from Health center II back in June last year has been serving a growing population however its staff, especially Midwives have been using a medical store as accommodation.
Kisoro Mayor Richard Ndyana said at least three pieces of land have been identified and the owners are willing to sell. He said the fundraising drive is meant to last only one month.
“We are calling on the communities in Kisoro to join hands for this noble cause, whatever you can give, can go a long way in supporting this development”, Ndyana said
Kisoro Central division LC III chairperson Ramadhan Ndikezye, who single handedly fought to see the existence of Shaaza HC III says, having another health facility in Kisoro municipality boasted goes a long way in supporting healthy and productive Ugandans.
Northern Division LCIII Chairperson Michael Bazamaza thanked the Ministry of Finance for considering Zindiro HC III. He noted that over 100 million will be needed to purchase the land.
He called for giving arms and cooperation from the public.
Voice of Muhabura Staff Barnabas Kamusime and Joshua Niyonshima both pledged 80,000 Ugandan shillings between them and handed over 40,000 shillings in Cash.
“We are key stakeholders in the success or failure of our district, therefore we call upon all people to find it within their hearts to support this project because if we fail to get land in time, the monies will revert back to the consolidated fund, Niyonshima and Kamusime explained. @NiyonshimaJosh @kamubana1
About Zindiro HC III
The health facility has become popular among the residents in Zindiro serving people from as far as Mutanda, Rubuguri and the Democratic republic of Congo.
Zindiro HC III Evarist Mbonye says since the hospital does not have staff housing, patients come and wait until health workers start arriving.
The health facility manages to serve at least 50 patients daily, 1,200 out patients every month and 120 deliveries have been carried out in the last six months.
Mbonye called on the public to unite for the betterment of the district because diseases knows no boundary and sees no color of skin.
