A 30 year old Rwandese national and a resident of Karumena village, Line Street in Kisoro Municipality is nursing herself after being raped by a group of thugs who first clobbered her husband last night.
Speaking to voice of Muhabura, the victim said that the incident happened at around 1:00 AM while in deep sleep with her husband who was severely beaten until he escaped only to leave her wife with goons who later had canal knowledge with her several times.
Her neighbors told voice of Muhabura that the thugs were using iron bars to open different houses one by one looking for women until one alarmed and they ran away. They added that the thugs made use of the power blackout during the night.
Residents however blamed police for not doing enough to protect them yet they were informed about the incidence. They added that by the time of the incidence police was around but it could not arrest the thugs.
Meanwhile, the Karumena LC1 Chairperson Mr. Daudi Line says that the crimes are increasing day by day yet there is curfew in the whole country. He noted that security could be having a hand in the insecurities being created because they do not help when they are informed.
He added that it may get worse in this political season if deployments are not made especially in dark sports of the Municipality.
