Residents of Rusisiro village in Nyarusiza Sub county, were yesterday shocked to learn that an 11 year old boy had been grabbed by one of the educators in the village, his hands cut and later tired. The minor was eventually locked in a dark room for several hours.
Vicente Ngirabakunzi, a teacher by profession attached to Kabere primary school in Nyarusiza Sub County is coming under fire for torturing and illegally confining the 11 year old boy who was allegedly found grazing cattle in his garden.
The Victim’s identity was concealed for his own protection however it was confirmed that both the victim and perpetrator come from Rusisiro village in Nyarusiza Sub County.
While speaking to voice of Muhabura, the minor said that he was grabbed by Ngirabakunzi who cut his hands several times before locking him up in a room.
“I was cut by master several times. It really hurt. He later threw me in a room and told me I’d learn a lesson for trespassing on his land, I said I was sorry but he could not listen to me”, minor explained while in tears.
The father to the minor Munyaribanje Innocent said that he was tipped by residents about the incident. He claims that he approached the teacher to pardon his son, but the teacher was adamant to listen forcing him to engage the Police.
Munyaribanje says he is now worried about the health and mental state of his child.
Ngirabakunzi was arrested by the Nyarusiza sub county police and later released on police bond.
The Rusisiro LC1 Chairman, Tuyisabe Jackson confirmed the incident adding that he pleaded for leniency for the minor but the teacher was too angry.
While speaking to vomuhabura, Ngirabakunzi Vincent admitted his mistake before local leaders and asked for forgiveness. He noted that he wanted to punish the young boy because he was so disrespectful.
