The book of Ecclesiastes in the bible, speaks of young people walking in the way of their heart’s desires and seeks to remember the youthful, that God will one day bring into judgment for all these things.
Post Covid-19 Youth in Kisoro and in many other places continue to struggle with their identity in Christ and as a result, many have fallen into a wayward lifestyle that includes early marriages, drug and alcohol dependency and violence.
During a one day Conference organized by Nyamagana Pentecostal Church, a total of 250 youth from all over the district managed to recommit their lives to Christ, pledged to walk upright, the rest of their days.
The conference which was under the theme, not happy with the days we live in, aimed at teaching the youth to strive at putting their goals and aspirations on what God has promised and not what the current life situations portray.
Nyamagana Pentecostal Church Pastor, Eric Tumizere says it is a constant battle for our Souls, either to serve God or the devil and the struggle is particularly harder on the youth, who are not necessarily children nor are they adults.
Tumizere says, with Christ at the center of your heart, it is possible to weather all storms in life and constant renewal of faith is important through meeting regularly with other Christians and finding time to serve God by reading his word.
“We are planning to organize a bigger youth conference that will last more than two days and we hope that we can reach out to more youth who are struggling emotionally, mentally and financially. It is important that they know that Jesus loves them, Tumizere said
The newly elected youth chairperson for Pentecostal Churches Kwizera Gideon called on the youth to remember that the days we are living in are evil and people have become hard hearted therefore they need to seek refuge in the Lord who promises peace, Stability and eternal life.
Uwera Emery, one of the youth who attended thanked the organizers of the conference saying it has revived her spiritual awareness which had gone down due to trials at school and at home.
Among the other Churches that participated include Kisoro Christian Center (KCC).
