VHTs in Kisoro involved in Covid-19 awareness

The development comes on the backdrop of Kisoro district council passing a supplementary budget of 305 million shillings with each village entitled to get 400,000shs to facilitate V.H.Ts and village taskforces across the entire district.

However, to date, villages are still waiting to receive the long awaited facilitation to boost their morale in the fight against covid-19 while handling home based care cases and raising awareness about Covid-19.

Onzu told vomuhabura.com that the district has been experiencing network problems at available banks. After contacting the officials in the central government, Onzu was promised that the issue will be clarified before Wednesday, today.

Onzu also noted that each village will receive its money through health assistants near them. He urged these health assistants to give out all the monies because people have been patient enough to get the money.

Meanwhile he warned against corruption among health assistants because if they deduct any funds meant for village taskforces or VHTS, it will hinder Government efforts towards saving lives.

Warning to Civil Servants Selling Covid-19 Vaccination Cards

The Kisoro Resident District Commissioner Retired Captain Peter Mugisha has warned all civil servants especially health workers who are secretly selling Covid -19 vaccination cards to teachers.

According to the RDC, security is following up on some individuals who are selling the cards at 70,000 Ugandan shillings.

Mugisha says some teachers refused to take the vaccine because they fear they will not produce which is baseless.

He urged all teachers to get vaccinated if they wish to retain their jobs.

Vaccines in Kisoro run out within a few days of arrival.
