Renowned Motor Cycle dealer in Kisoro Municipality Sanyu Joseph is now a free man after Police said evidence against him in an aggravated robbery and attempted murder case was found lacking and unnecessary to pursue.
The development was confirmed by Elias Bairuka, Kisoro Police CID officer.
According to a letter seen by Voice of Muhabura, dated December 13th 2021, the accuser Sanyu Joseph was arrested on June 6th 2021 on charges of aggravated robbery under case number Kisoro CRB 284/2021.
Bairuka says, Police carried out sufficient investigations however nothing concrete was discovered to allow the case be pushed to courts of law.
While speaking to Voice of Muhabura, Sanyu says he is pleased with the decision by Police to let him go free.
Sanyu explained that his woes are fueled by enemies in the boda boda business who operate on blackmail and intimidation.
He noted that his biggest regret now is that his name and reputation has been tainted by falsehoods which he hopes will clear with time adding that his monthly profits of 10 million shillings a month have been greatly affected.
“I am willing to forgive these people who are trying to fail my business only if they are willing to make a public apology over the radio and compensate me for my mental and physical stress, Sanyu explained.
Who is bigger in the Kisoro Boda Boda Industry?
It has been said that Sanyu Joseph of Sanyu Motor spares and business rival Ivan Niringiye of Ivan Motor spares have held strong grudges against each other for several years.
The profitable boda boda business has only worsened their relationship, with claims that Sanyu Joseph orchestrated an attack on the family of Ivan Niringiye.
The alleged actions of Sanyu prompted a major strike among the boda boda community who blocked Kisoro Bunagana road with stones, demanding for justice.
