The 1st National vice Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party Rt.Hon. Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo has summoned a section of Members of Parliament in Kisoro district for supporting one of the independent candidates in the Bukimbiri by- election.
Four out of five members of Parliament are said to be in support of Independent candidate Asgario Turyagyenda.
Three of them including Bufumbira North MP Kamara John Nizeyimana, Kisoro Municipality Kwizera Paul Bucyana and Bufumbira East Hon. Dr. James Nsaba Buturo have openly de-campaigned their former counterpart, Hon. Eddie Kwizera Wagahungu.
The ruling party on Saturday last week endorsed Hon. Eddie Kwizera Wagahungu as its flag bearer in the upcoming Bukimbiri county by-election.
While addressing a section of Bukimbiri leaders at Ikoro Hotel in Kisoro district yesterday, Al Hajji Kigongo said the top party leadership will not look on as some elements who claim to associate with the party are defying the party position.
Al Hajji Kigongo described them as enemies of progress.
Kigongo vowed that the errant MPs will be summoned by the party disciplinary committee and if found culpable, they shall face punitive measures as a deterrence to other members.
Al hajj Kigongo further lashed out at some clergy and local leaders in Kisoro district who have reportedly been campaigning openly for some candidates against others on religious lines.
The deputy National Treasurer at the secretariat, Hon. Jacqueline Kyatuhaire stressed the message of unity and solidarity of the NRM brigade during the vote hunting.
Kwizera Wagahungu Eddie on NRM ticket is set to be nominated today alongside two other candidates including Mutabazi Joshua (NUP) and Mutabazi Edward (Independent)
