A section of Kisoro districts Councilors have given the district top leadership an ultimatum of five days to have a council meeting convened and discuss matters of district importance effective Thursday 22 July 2021 .
The move was announced by councilors who had convened at Graceland hotel after bouncing from the district headquarters where they expected to have their second council meeting since the time of swearing in on 18th May 2021.
According to the LC5 councilor representing southern Division Agaba James, council meetings are supposed to be convened once in two months. He added that the district has got matters of importance that need an emergency council meeting including approving the 305 million covid-19 district fund.
The LC5 Woman councilor representing Rubuguri Town council and Kirundo Sub County, Tumwesingye Merab said that it is unfortunate for district leaders to fail to coordinate over simple matters. She said that councilors were given the green light that there would be a council meeting today.
Other councilors say that technocrats are having little supervision from the political wing because of the uncoordinated council that has failed to also constitute committees or approve the district executive committee. They asked the district speaker Amos Hakizimana, district Chief Administrative officer, Onzu Ismail Musa and the district Chairman, Abel Bizimana to coordinate and organize for an emergency meeting not later than Monday 26/07/2021
