The Kisoro united Boda boda operators Association (KUBO) has embarked on an ambitious project of constructing a two storied hotel in Kisoro Municipality aimed at supplementing their revenue.
The revelation was made the KUBO current chairman Habiyaremye Robert Kalangala who said they have already completed the foundation, costing them at least 250 million Ugandan shillings.
Mr. Kalangala says the boda boda industry has managed to support many youths earn a daily living however for sustainability and growth, inviting a hotel complex will ensure the revenue stream to the association is guaranteed.
The hotel, which will eventually be called Kisoro United Boda Boda Operators Hotel or KUBO hotel is located on Chuho road, near Vienna guest house.
According to Kalangala, the two storied building will require an investment of close to 2 billion Ugandan shillings to get it up and running.
KUBO is one of the biggest organizations in Kisoro, strongly favored by Politicians and security alike for their reach among people and ability to mobilize for a worthy cause.
Kalangala says, once the building is functional, he will pave way for another leader as he will have secured a legacy for the association which is currently over 5000 people.
The cost of acquiring a stage in Kisoro district is 1.5 million Ugandan shillings as membership fee.
Mr. Kalangala also praised outgoing Secretary General Batamukoraho Baker who introduced the idea of securing a plot of land and constructing a future investment for the organization.
The Contractor of the project, Engineer Nsenga Alisen says the building will include ground floor parking and lockups for businesspeople.
It will also host the new offices of the boda boda association and will have executive rooms for clients who are interested in the service of hospitality.
Nsenga says the project is currently employing 40 people every day working on the site. He hopes that it can be completed in good time, all depending on the available resources.
