A total of 151,084 Home study learning materials for Primary level have been received by Kisoro district education department aimed at helping pupils study from home, during the prolonged Closure of Schools due to Covid-19
Hundreds of Primary School teachers gathered at the Kisoro district headquarters with hopes of collecting the highly anticipated learning materials, only to find that majority of them had been published in irrelevant languages to Kisoro Pupils.
These include Runyankore, Rukiga and Rutoro among others.
Many head teachers gathered at Kisoro District council hall where all the books are kept receiving different books of different languages including Muslims.
Some of the teachers who spoke to Voice of Muhabura on the condition of anonymity said, Government has betrayed them because they have been waiting for a long time for the learning materials, only for them to arrive and may not be utilized appropriately.
Kisoro District inspector of schools Emmanuel Mbonyebyombi confirmed the development.
He further urged the teachers not to sit on the books but ensure to distribute them to pupils so that they can use them.
The learning materials that arrived at the district are meant for Primary One to Primary four.
National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) is responsible for creating the content while Vision Group Printing published the country wide content.
