The closest rival to NRM’s Eddie Kwizera Wa Gahungu in the just concluded Bukimbiri County by-election has since the results were tampered and the NRM win was a sham.
Mr. Turyagyenda (independent) came in second to Kwizera with 10,105 votes while the latter carried the election with 12,214.
Other candidates in the race put up a valiant fight with Mutabazi Edward (independent) getting 308 and Owebeyi James (FDC) with 280 votes.
During a phone interview with Voice of Muhabura, Asgario said he does not agree with the declarations made Electoral Commission because intimidation was too much.
He further noted that the “State Machinery” on ground was evident and this is an eye opener for people who wish to vote the NRM Government in the future.
Asgario said his focus now is to strengthen his relations with the people of Bukimbiri so that in 2026, during the general elections, his win shall be guaranteed.
The Kisoro district LCV Chairperson Abel Bizimana says that the election exercise was peaceful, free and fair adding that due to high presence of security, the election was protected and everyone felt secure to vote for their candidate of choice.
Mr. Bizimana, is a known supporter and Mobiliser of the NRM party and shares a good working relation with MP Elect of Bukimbiri Eddie Kwizera Wa Gahungu.
The Director of Communications in the NRM party Dombo Emmanuel says in every competition, there is always a winner and a loser.
Dombo said he is not surprised that the losers would say distasteful works to defend themselves. He noted that it is time to consolidate and implement the NRM manifesto so that the people of Bukimbiri can benefit financially, socially and geographically.
