40 year old Nyarusiza man suffers Genital Mutilation after heavy night of Drinking

Residents of Butaha Village, Gitenderi Parish, Nyarusiza Sub County are reeling from Shock after a 40 year old man by the names of Richard Ntibakunze was discovered by the roadside this morning without sexual organs.

Ntibakunze, a peasant and chronic alcohol drinker was first spotted by passersby who noticed a man lying in a pool of blood.

Upon closer examination, they were shocked to learn that his sexual organs had been removed.

Eye witnesses told Voice of Muhabura that crowds soon gathered to marvel at the act while others attempted to mobilize transport to rush him to St. Francis Hospital, Mutolere for further Management.

The victim’s son identified as Izabayo Codemu, aged 18 was allegedly attacked by unknown assailants.

Izabayo, who is also admitted at St. Francis Hospital, Mutolere suffered some cuts to his neck.

Voice of Muhabura has learnt that Ntibakunze, who was operated during the afternoon hours is now stable and on his way to full recovery.

According to St. Francis Hospital, Mutolere Medical Superintendent Dr. Jerome Mugisha, the man will have to learn to live without his sexual Organs.

Dr. Jerome says, acts of genital mutilation are not common in Kisoro district.

Community Speaks out

Several eye witnesses who preferred anonymity say, the victim was recently separated from his wife who had left him behind with their children.

They also claim that Ntibakunze was well known for heavy drinking in the area and could have been attacked by thugs.

Others say, the act was too depraved and the attacker could have been known to the victim.

Residents claim that, a similar incident of Genital Mutilation occurred back in January 2022 when a man allegedly die after being attacked. His sexual organs were removed and never recovered.

The Nyarusiza Sub County district Councilor Johns Mfitumukiza condemned the acts of genital mutilation and urged the public to find peaceful ways of solving their problems.

Kisoro Police is hunting for the suspects connected to the gruesome act.
