19 YEAR OLD MOTHER ABANDONS 9 MONTHS OLD KID IN BUSANZA

A 19 year old divorced mother and a resident of Kangoma village in
Busanza Sub County has cried to the district’s probation office
intervention after her 9 months baby was allegedly forcefully taken by
father.
The complainant has been identified as Ingabire Annette who stays
with her parents in Kangoma village after divorcing her first impotent
husband. She however produced with Godfrey Habumugisha a
resident of Gahiza village.

Ingabire says that the father of her kid rang her to go and get some
financial support for the baby but he later grabbed the kid and started
intimidating to cut her using a panga.

Ingabire alleges that she is currently feeling chest pain resulting from
failure to breastfeed her baby. She added that the reported the case
to the probation office and she was not helped.

However, Mr. Godfrey Habumugisha says that Ingabire on Thursday
last week dumped the baby before him threatening to kill it which
forced him to take up the responsibility to care for the kid. He vows
not to give back the baby to its mother as he fears that he might lose
the baby.

Meanwhile, the Kisoro district probation officer, Kampire Moira says
that she has handed over the case to police as the mother is being
charged with Child abandonment.
She added that her office and that of the child police protection unit
will tomorrow visit the home of the mother and that of the father to
asses which family that has potentials to take care of the child that is
currently with the father.
